DrĀ I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang, is Associate Professor at Department of Marine Sciences, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Udayana University. He received his Bachelor (2006), Master (2008), from Udayana University and Ph.D (2013) from Chiba University, Japan. He served as a Lecturer (2010-2017), an Assistant Professor (2017-2021), and an Associate Professor (2021 - present) at Udayana University. His research area is oceanography and remote sensing, including identify and explain the dynamics of the coastal zone as well asa future trends in oceanic variability related to climate changes. His current research is understanding the characteristics of ocean surface signatures from space: investigating the intensity in the Indonesia Seas particularly in the major strait of Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) by using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Optical Satellite Data, remote sensing applications for internal solitary waves detection, measuring primary productivity, detection of the potential fishing zone, and blue carbon estimation.
